Abstract

The article deals with the formation and development of German Language during the early new high
German period. The paper tackles the issues concerning chronological boundaries of the said period.
The analysis of historical and socio-political conditions for emergence and development of the Standard
German language norm is carried out. The inluence of historical and socio-political extralingual factors on
the language development, the universalization of vocabulary, grammar and the choice of stylistic means
are described.
